Genny Wilkinson began her journey into Ashtanga yoga in 2000 while working as a journalist in her native New York City. Initially drawn to the practice for its physical benefits, Genny soon discovered the profound mental advantages, especially during the challenging period following the 9/11 terror attacks.

Which she covered as a journalist for Reuters. Her professional career took her to Singapore, where she wrote for Time Magazine, and then to Paris, before she finally settled in London.

As her family expanded to include four boys, Genny decided to leave full-time journalism to immerse herself in yoga studies. She achieved certification as a Shri K Pattabhi Jois Ashtanga Yoga Institute Authorised Level 1 teacher, a British Wheel of Yoga teacher, and a Yoga Alliance-certified teacher.

Genny’s passion for yoga philosophy led her to pursue a Master’s Degree in the Traditions of Yoga and Meditation at SOAS in London.

Dedicated to her practice, she exclusively follows Hamish Hendry, the UK’s only Certified Ashtanga Yoga teacher. Under his guidance, she has mastered the Primary, Intermediate, and Third Series, and is now working on the Fourth Series. Genny frequently travels to Mysore, India, to study with Ashtanga Yoga lineage holder Sharath Jois, who has authorized her to teach Ashtanga yoga as set out by the KPJAYI.

Genny is also a qualified Children’s Yoga teacher through the British Wheel of Yoga. In addition to her teaching role at triyoga, she serves as the Yoga Manager at Europe’s largest group of yoga studios.

She continues her writing career by editing Pushpam, a global yoga magazine published by Hamish Hendry, and contributing articles to various publications including the Huffington Post, Daily Mail, Elephant Journal, Cosmopolitan, and Yogadork.
